Olympia - My Best Place To Live

Olympia, the capitol city of the Evergreen State - Washington - is a truly great place to live. Olympia typically ranks toward the top of 'Best Places' lists by Money, MSNBC, and others. As one of the world's best places to live, Olympia has it all; moderate climate, great schools, vibrant downtown, and a magnificent outdoor environment.

Although Olympia, and Western Washington as a whole, is well known for it's rainfall, many consider the rain a worthwhile tradeoff. It is, after all, the Evergreen State. The weather systems coming in from the Pacific Ocean bring the benifits of lush forests, ample wind to power our sailboats, and generally fresh marine air. It can be a little trying in the dead of winter, January and February, when the days are short and there seems a constant drizzle and gray skies, but then Spring, Summer, and Fall come along and winter memories fade right away.

Olympia is centrally located in Western Washington between Seattle and Portland, Oregon. It's great to be able to enjoy the big city culture, just an hour's drive, but return to the the small town atmosphere of Olympia. In less than two hours, you can be in Seattle or Portland, enjoy a day at the Pacific Ocean, or hike Mt Rainier or the Olympics. But if you live in Olympia and it's water you seek, you're only talking a couple of minutes drive.

Olympia marks the Southern most tip of Washington's unrivaled inland sound. The Puget Sound, offers Olympians a unique water experience. From Olympia, you can cruise to Seattle, Canada, Alaska, or out to the Pacific Ocean and around the world. Boating is a big part of the Northwest experience, people from all over the world come here for the boating.

Olympia is truly my best place to live. I've traveled the United States and the world and I keep coming back. If you'd like to learn more about my best place, Olympia, please send me and email at becky@networksre.com or leave a comment below.

REX's Gravatar I AGREE, WHEN 6 MONTHS A YEAR ARE EXTREMELY HOT AND UNCOMFORTABLE, OLYMPIA IS A PARADISE !

Becky's Gravatar It's true, when temps reach up over 100, with humidity to match, Olympia's summer temps remain a mild 75 to 85. Thanks for your response!

Ella's Gravatar Well, my mother and I are completely and utterly serious about moving AWAY from Kentucky.
She's put me in charge of our moving arrangements. I'm only in high school, but Olympia seems to come up in whatever searches I make.
We don't know anyone in Washington state, so it'd be nice to have a heads up on things out there.
So yeah. What's it like? Schools?
Thanks :)

Becky's Gravatar Ella, I think you and your mom would like Olympia. The schools are very good. If you like the great outdoors there's lots to keep you busy. Since we're a port on the Puget Sound, there's a very active sailing community and we now have a beautiful new rowing center. There's great parks including a new outdoor athletic complex. There's lakes for skiing and fishing, two mountain ranges for hiking and backpacking, and we're only a little over an hour from the sandy beaches of the Pacific Ocean. Since we're a college town and the state capitol, there's a healthy, dynamic and interesting culture here. Let me know when you plan a visit and I'll be happy to show you around.
