Sosua is a small but bustling town in the north coast of the Dominican Republic. Often referred to as the Acapulco of the Dominican Republic, it's where tourism first began back in the 70s and 80s. Sosua remains a popular tourist destination, favoured by British, Germans Canadians, Americans and others who apreciate the laidback lifestyle, the all-year round sunshine, the beautiful beach, and the friendly locals.

Despite development, Sosua still keeps its charm with many interesting shops and fine restaurants. There's a fairly large ex-patriot community making Sosua their year round home. The one kilometer long Sosua Beach continues to be the main attraction of the area. In spite of the large number of vendors who have set up shop right on the beach, it’s still one of the most spectacular in the Dominican Republic.

Sosua boasts a wide range or restaurants and bars, so night life is lively and active. The beach in the center of Sosua separating the El Batey side from Los Charamicos is the perfect place to wile away your day, take in a bit of atmosphere and soak up the sun. Private clinics and doctors are available to look after your medical needs, and you'll find that quality treatment is much cheaper than in North America and Western Europe.

Situated conveniently between Cabarete (the kite-boarding capital of the Dominican Republic) and Puerto Plata, a bustling working city Sosua is a mere 20 minute drive from the Puerto Plata international airport, making it easy to get to.
